Tomorrow's pick up is Tower Bridge, ( Production and audio equipment) John Henry's studio today, Truck driving in Central London is intense though, top tip imho. I always drive in Central London with the radio off and Windows down, 20 mph limit so not as if windy. You need all your senses is my point, good luck and take your time.

In 7 years ive never taken a break and every single shift from minute 1 till finish is is go go go. yes its really difficult, applied to all hgv 1 jobs in the uk even 100 miles outside of my area but no luck, i passed 2 months ago - next week ill be going into the offices with my CV and will be wearing a suit (overkill but im desperate at this point lol) - strange i see so many class 1 drivers on the road and im wondering how the hell did they get that job without having any experience its kind of frustrating but gotta keep going. i spent 4k training and the trainers said there is soo many jobs out there and they need hgv drivers so bad but no response from them, and now that i have given them all my money they stopped responding to me! sometimes i feel like its my race because im not white and trucking jobs lets me honest is quite a right wing sort of industry , a lot of hgv drivers are your typical brexiteers sort of person cockney and they dont like to see other races in their industry - they wont say it out loud but most of them thinking like that. its a shame. but i am now 43 years old so need to get a move on because i changed careers quite late and not getting any younger. i have made 70k+ per year in other careers so im not doing this for the money more for just lifestyle i want to be left alone and want to work alone all day without people annoying me in office environment lol. but im just ranting at this point, thank you for the advice i will use it. great video

    Nice bit of advice. My son around 6 months ago passed his C+E test. Prior to that he passed his C test around 7 years ago, he's now 27 years old. For safety purposes I don't think anyone in charge of these massive lorries with expensive loads should be working anymore than 45 hours per week. My son is mainly being offered driving jobs as a Ltd Company. Now bear in mind, my son is working for his Ltd Company, frees the employers from having to pay employers NI, pension, sick pay, holiday pay and from supplying any P.P.E. The wages being offered for driving for his own Ltd Company are still only around the same as working for a company as a regular employee, along with the benefits of the aforementioned being paid by the employer. This then meaning, working Ltd for his Company he needs to charge from at least £30.00 per hour. Working for a regular employer from around £25.00 per hour. The other thing is having passed his tests he finds it difficult to get jobs. Especially as a Class 1 driver due to the high insurance rates being imposed on employers. Absolute madness!

    £1500 a month that is terrible even £2500 is bad thats got to be the low end surely? Take home £2500 a month for a forklift driver on 12 hour 5 days a week would be easy, i know many drivers on way more than that, yeah if your talking first year then yeah but £1500 is too low £2500 take home had to be the minimum for sure if your out 5 days a week

    Ah I can see why new drivers wouldn't want to enter the industry after watching this doom & gloom. Life is a state of mind and all industries have their challenges and huge amounts of change. Thank goodness things have evolved, remember iced up crittal windows and lighting fires every morning to get heat into a home - evolution is good, just run with it rather than live in the 'good ole days'. And as for CPC training, it's actually recognising it takes professionals to operate trucks and put simply, professionals train frequently, what's wrong with that...

    Nice video m8 however, earnings as an hgv class 1 60k+ is just an fairytale on the web. In the real time, you'll never ever get this money and that's a fact. You'll be always somewhere between 28-33k annually and as a trumper round 40k max. The companies now days don't want to pay a decent wages as an hgv so don't bother. If ya work in any foreign chain supermarket as a stock loader, you'll earn even more. I get my C-E license, spend fortune and after 6 years of trucking stuck on 30k. On the Internet, there's plenty of trucking job offers with, but you'll hardly get someoneto reply. Now I working steady as a forklift operator with 42k. No hassle, weekends always home, plenty of family time. Sorry, just saying to others.

    • @truckitprayle
      @truckitprayle 15 дней назад

      Thats fair enough mate, i think it really does depend on where in the country you are i have had several jobs down this way 40k+ and would be alot more if tramping. It's definitely got harder since they had a big push to get more people into the industry and now the competition is higher for jobs.

    Hey Sam, I've been looking into becoming a HGV driver recently. Your videos have been a massive help, so thanks for that. I've talked about my intent to do this with a couple of friends, and they're saying it's not worth it anymore. That the wages during and shortly after Covid were massively inflated, and that you can't expect more than £35k for Class 1 now. Is this true? It's not a massive deal to me though. I think I'll love the work. Beats slaving away in factories like I've done for the last 5 years or so. Also, I'm Welsh. Can't really explain how to pronounce Llanfair-PG in text! Doesn't really translate lol

    • @truckitprayle
      @truckitprayle 16 дней назад

      Yeah some of what they are saying is partly true but whats the alternative, earn 20k in a warehouse. It's got alot of pros and alot of cons you just have to way up whats more important to you. As for that welsh place i think i will leave it to you guys to say 🤣

    • @I_Mark_Mills
      @I_Mark_Mills 15 дней назад

      @@truckitprayle That's what I'm saying mate. The factory work is starting to get to me, and the pay is always minimum wage. Truck driving for me seems to be more pros than cons. It's just gonna take me a while to get there. Need my driving licence first. I ride a motorbike currently, but only had maybe 7 or 8 car lessons. Do you think it's simple enough for a guy with some common sense to get his car licence and then jump straight into driving trucks?

    Above 4 statutory and one bad diet early death reality is, if a firm isn't willing to pay you a gross or more than £19.00/hr under PAYE then you are not going to be a respected HGV Driver as the employer isn't! The employer can't command an amount commensurate with then maintaining vehicles nor paying skilled employees a respectful rate. Time to become another type of driver if driving is your thing?

      Got to take those jobs sadly if your going for your first class 1 job beggars can't be choosers but once you have 1-2 years experience I agree you should seek better work. I recently got my 1st class 1 job and its easy work just trunking and I get £17 an hour. Regarding Satnavs and learning the road networks I would advise any new driver to learn to read a map and carry the Truckers Atlas in your bag. If your Satnav goes down or you lose GPS you need to be able to navigate on the fly. Never EVER rely on a Satnav, your eyes, brain, and common sense are your primary navigation devices. Trust me, I've been there when you trust a Satnav and it goes badly wrong. You don't do it twice! Agreed with patience and dealing with assholes, just back off and let them find that tree that has their name on it. Pity I didn't get the near miss with an e-scooter on camera this week.

    Some people might laugh at this comment but my experience of trying to get my licence for any vehicle in a week has always been a disaster and I’ve always failed, I’m one of those guys that needs to pick up a skill one piece at a time otherwise I find it too strsssful as it’s basically information overload. But most driver training schools insist on you doing a 5 day course and your not given an option on doing it any other way, I wish you could break the practical training to weeks rather than days as it’s a lot to take in in 4/5 days, from being a novice to a test passer! But I give credit to those who can pass it in that timeframe.

    The advise is good when there is a danger getting stuck, soft ground , overhanging buildings etc etc but if been driving for 47 years and this was doable, first time you were almost there .

      @truckitprayle yes they are helping. Only did it yesterday. First without banks man, I had no business reversing into tight road. 2nd banks man encouraged me to keep going back. Third one as I shut forward to correct my angle rear steer dented vehicle. I'm devastated but I pray I learn.

    Great call drive. The average banksman/labourer has no idea of trailer length/axle configuration, same with unit, All very well waving you in from rear, but have no idea you have to take into account where cab n/s is in relation to obstacles. Had it many times where I've stopped to get out and check, with banksman raving what I'd stopped for. When shown my n/s is showing close to a bollard, picked up by my pavement mirror, they go quiet. Well done for knowing your own/your rig's limitations - THAT'S PROFESSIONAL !! 👏👍

      Thats it mate, i will always have a look and give it ago but i have no problem admitting when i feel it cannot be done. And yes some banks men can be a little annoying and just don't get how it works.

    Might have missed it but do you have any advice on reversing into like an angled bay? Was doing curtains for Nissan and struggled hard with these bags

    I started off in 1984 I went to a real shockingly bad cowboy firm ,I managed to get my experience without being prosecuted then moved on to a job that I got through knowing people having worked on agency,at the time believe it or not, Time and half after 8 hrs, Same Saturday, Double time Sundays, Treble time and a day off in lieu, for the extremely rare time you worked a Bank holiday,And wait for it 12.5 maximum duty, but the maximum agreed by the union was 10 hours, I t seems unbelievable when I look back.

    Let's put it this way: I'm stuck in McDonald's working myself to the bone for nothing. I was homeless as recently as 2 months ago, actually down to the day as I type this; I've got a stalker who's making my life hell and the police won't do anything about, which means I want to leave the county as soon as possible anyway, and I don't have or want a family. I am very much a night/evening person and have gotten used to working Friday-Tuesday, 8-10 hours a day which happens to be the opposite of what most people want to be working. I'm autistic and have always had a special interest in heavy vehicles, so really my best options are either this or driving trains or buses.
